Faith Tools for the Family of Faith is a blog meant to connect people with resources to assist them in their ministry at home, at church, in school, at work and in the community. Faith Tools for the Family of Faith is a blog authored by members of the Faith Formation Resource Team of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Why a blog?
This past year our synod participated in a process to help us determine our direction for ministry. One of the things that folks requested was to find ways to connect with others in the synod as a way of sharing best practices. There are many ways to do this. One way is to help folks connected around specific ministry concerns – and this blog is an attempt to do that. The topics in this blog will relate to issues concerning youth and family ministry.
The purpose of “Faith Tools for the Family of Faith” is to connect you with others in this synod and with resources to assist you in your ministry in the family, work place, school, church, and community.
Who is the audience for this blog?
There will be topics that will be of concern to:
- all church leaders (lay and rostered leaders)
- congregation council members
- committee/task force chairpersons
- parents
- Sunday School and Bible school teachers
- folks running after school programs
- youth and young adults
You might not be interested in every topic. But, hopefully there will be something here for you from time to time! You might have times when you are looking for a specific idea. Check out the posts and comments – and maybe you will come away with an idea you would like to try. Hopefully, there will be times when YOU have the idea to help someone else. The synod’s Faith Formation Resource Team is counting on you to share the ideas that work for you! By connecting with one another, we can learn from one another and strengthen our ministry.
What will be posted in this blog?
Here are the kinds of things that members of the Faith Formation Resource Team will post here:
- Best practices from mission districts, congregations, and families
- Requests for questions that are on the minds of followers of this blog
- Reflections from events, continuing education experiences and other resources that might be helpful to readers
- Thoughts and ideas to help folks make the connections between faith and daily life
- Book of Faith suggestions, thoughts, ideas, practices – for the home and congregation
- Helpful links to specific ministries/events
- Occasional greetings and words of encouragement from our bishop
- Resource ideas from the resource center – and how to use them
- Age-group specific ideas – connecting with youth in college, educational ministry with seniors, etc.
- Video relating to any of the above
